Lindsay's Legacy Hop

Today, we are hopping in memory of our dear friend and fellow cardmaker, Lindsey Martin-Penny, who sadly passed away last year from a rare and aggressive form of ovarian cancer.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Lindsey’s husband Burke thought it would be a great time to sell off her many craft supplies, with all of the proceeds going towards Lindsey’s Legacy Fund for Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer Research in cooperation with The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

The purpose of this hop will be to honour Lindsey, celebrate her life and all that she loved, as well as help spread the word to raise funds for clear cell ovarian cancer research.  You can help in one of several ways!

  1. Purchase a Flat Rate Mailer stuffed with loads of fabulous craft supplies.  These can only be mailed within Canada and there will be no tax receipts provided with the purchase of these boxes.  A box of craft supplies would make a great gift for yourself, a crafty friend or a child/classroom!  For details about the boxes and how you can go about purchasing one, please email lindseyslegacyfund@rogers.com with the message "Craft Box" or visit Lindsey’s original blog, Bashful Blogging.  Every craft box purchase in September will be entered into a draw and one lucky winner will win a $100 gift certificate to Scrap ‘n Stamp

  2. During the month of September, shop at Scrap ‘n Stamp using the code LINDSEY10 at checkout.  You will get 10% off your purchase (sale items excluded) and Scrap ‘n’ Stamp will donate 10% of their proceeds to Lindsey’s Legacy Fund.

  3. Any donations over $15 made directly to Lindsey’s Legacy Fund will receive a digital tax receipt.

  4. Repost this hop on your social media and encourage others to share!

Lindsey’s Legacy Hop begins at Emily Leiphart’s blog.  If you get lost along the way, please return to Emily’s blog where she will have the entire hop list.

Thanks so much for hopping with us!

I met Lindsey while being on the design team for 25 Days of Christmas Tags (thank you so much Tracey) and we connected instantly because of our love of Disney and Minnie & Mickey Mouse. I loved sending her cards and bags using all things Disney. We had also planned to meet in person on a trip that was planned for September 2020 to Canada but then COVID hit and that never happened. We were both disappointed but still kept in touch via online chat. Lindsey had a kind heart , a fabulous sense of humor, and was so incredibly talented, it was an honor to know her!

I made a card in her honor using these 2 sweet mice and will send it to her family at Christmas. I used these sweet dies from Social Paper Plan and the background paper is from Papertrey Ink.

Thank you so much for taking the time to hop with us!

  6. I actually "met" Lindsey during the first 25 Days of Tags that I participated in. She contacted me about a background I was using to photograph my tags. She bought the identical paper and we became background buddies and the rest is history. Such a cute card Kim. They'll love receiving it.

  8. I 'met' Lindsey when we both found ourselves together on the Naughty or Nice team and then she opened the door for me to the wonderful crew at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers. She was truly one in a million and I feel so blessed to have known her. We all miss her every day, don't we. I often think of Burke and Duncan, and send them a mental hug. She'd love your card, which is adorable, Kim. Big hugs, Jo x

  10. Lindsey would be head-over-heels in love with your gingerbread Mickey and Minnie, as am I! It's absolutely adorable! Such a shame that you and Joyce were "this close" to meeting her but had to alter plans. I join you in wishing I had an opportunity to do so but...was not meant to be. Being part of the 25 Days of Christmas Tags was such fun, wasn't it. Memories galore to treasure. I know you'll agree that we're so blessed to have 'known' her. Sending you big hugs and much love!

  11. Kim this is such a fantastic card for Lindsey! The gingerbread mickey and minnie are so so cute! I'm so sorry that you never had a chance to meet her in real life but I assure you that whatever you thought she would be like, she was in every way! We can keep her in our memories because that is what we do when we lose someone in our life.
