Happy Birthday Darnell.....

Happy Birthday Miss Darnell...I am sure you all know who this special lady is and it you do not, you have been living under a rock. Here is the link to her amazing and creative blog. I am lucky enough to live only 30 minutes from Darnell and have the pleasure of meeting her for breakfast or lunch, it is always a fabulous treat! I know I am a bit late to the party but could not let her special day pass without sharing her birthday card and yummy looking cake too!

I used some NBUS in honor of Darnell, my Altnew Painted Flowers arrived today and they are so much fun to play with! It did take a few tries and trust me there are card stock pieces in my recycle bin to prove it.

Spent some time cutting out a few more thing, a plaid flannel blouse for my daughter, a Cat in Hat blouse for me to wear during Dr Seuss Week in March and then the fabric on top is a fun surprise for one lucky blog reader (chosen at random). More info on that next week once I finish sewing.
Enjoy your weekend and Happy 4th of July to all my friends in the States!

  5. Love this card for Darnell, and it looks like she does too, of course. I think I have that stamp set somewhere under a pile in my craft room so I can CASE you. Love the simplicity of your color scheme, and how you knew just exactly where to place every little black line.

  11. Gorgeous card for Darnell! I can't decide whether or not to buy those flowers as I'm afraid I won't be able to figure out how to do the stamping. Looks like you're having fun sewing again! Enjoy the holiday, Kim!

  15. Loving this Altnew set. Did you find it easy to stamp? I used the Vintage roses with Misti, but had a bit of bother with the single leaves being placed nicely. Even though with the Misti, they looked fine, but then when I saw the results, could have been better. Next time I will use the double leaf & stem. Yours looks just great, and I love the bright colors. A wonderful card for Our Miss Darnell, and how fortunately blessed you are, to be able to enjoy her sweet & humorous personality often. I know you both have such fun at these outings. Your new sewing projects look very interesting too. Loving the bright bold fabric choices. Happy 4th, and safe weekend too. TFS & Hugs

  16. I have this set and have only used it once!! I LOVE your pretty card with that gorgeous yellow!! So sweet of you to make a card for Darnell!! I want to come over for cake too!! And I am SO ENVIOUS of your sewing abilities. I used to sew doll clothes when I was in High School and my grandmother used to sell them for me. I would NEVER attempt to make something for myself though.

  25. The cake you've served us for Darnell's birthday looks delicious, but it's that stunning card that has set my heart racing! Absolutely gorgeous! I have the Vintage Roses set...still practicing to get them right! Your fabric showcases for the blouse, the Cat in the Hat hat (promise you'll model it for us when you're done!) and the 'mystery' make...once again, bedazzled by how multi-talented you are!
