The Challenge #64 - Color Inspiration

Hello...Happy Monday! I have to tell that I hate losing an hour, this Daylight Saving time stuff needs to stop, at least in my opinion. I hate the back and forth with the time thing, just nuts! Now that I have that said I will move on to my card for this weeks challenge at The Challenge #64. The colors for this week are so beautiful and I pulled at some NBUS, One Big Happy from PTI. I hope you will find the time to play along with us this week.

I spent some time sewing this weekend, we have had rain just about the entire time so what better time to try something new. A dear sweet friend of mine asked me to duplicate the microwave bowl cozy for her, she did not like the fabric choice but still bought it. It is the coolest thing, you pop your bowl of soup or what ever you are heating in it and microwave. When you pull it out the bowl your cozy protects your hands from getting hot or burned. I did some measuring and whipped up a bunch to make for friends to use as my guinea pigs so to speak. The batting is 100% cotton and there are 2 layers of that inside for protection. I used a bunch of fabric scraps and went crazy!

Once again I met up with Harriet and Darnell for a fabulous lunch at Pacific Catch and we forgot to get a picture, but we sure had a great time and Darnell decided to use the pot holder I made for her as padding for her bra (like she really needs any padding) and the waitress walks over to take our order...it was so funny, but you all can just imagine that, you know how funny Miss Darnell is. Really wish I had my phone out to snap a picture! Sorry to ramble on....thank you so much for taking the time to stop by...enjoy your week!

  1. I agree with you 100% on the time thing Kim . . . pointless! Sounds like you had a real blast with Miss Darnell, I wish that there were some crafty pals closer to me, so we could meet up and craft together! I LOVE those pot holders, such a great idea! I made some plate warmers, in a similar fashion, they were flat and stuffed with dried rice and you pop them in the oven for a minute or so, and then stack them between the dinner plates to keep them warm, as I hate it when you lovely hot food hits a stone cold plate! Anyway, I will stop rambling now! have a very lovely week my friend! Hazel xx

  2. LOVING your card! The flowers are beautiful! And loving those bowl cozies!!! I live in AZ -- so we don't have to Spring Forward or Fall Back ... but I wish our cell phone carriers would remember that as they are always resetting the times when they do change!! LOL!!!!!

  3. Love how the bold floral diecuts stand out on the gray BG. The epoxy dot centers are the perfect touch! I'm in total agreement with you on the DST issue - why not just leave the time the same all year through!!??

  5. I always have a terrible time adjusting to the time change, whether it be for winter or summer. I do like the longer evening lights, so now that we have that stage, wish it would just be left alone. Love your wonderful posey card, and especially like your color choices. Also quite a clever idea with the micro pot cosies. And so kind of you to make those for your pals. I have something similar to make baked potatoes. A friend got at a craft show, and I really like it. I can well image our Miss D doing just as you describe. Bet ya'll had so many laffs, and so happy you got to enjoy a good meal out with good craft buddies! Big hugs & TFS.

  7. Wonderful card, love the beautiful colors! Those cozies are pretty nifty too - are they "darted" to hold a bowl shape? Sounds like you girls had a blast...

  14. Look at you sharing my goofiness with all the world!! You're right, I definitely don't need them for boob cozies, but they are fabulous for bowl cozies! I used mine yesterday to hold a leftover bowl of soup. It protected my hands from the burning hot bowl itself, which is so much nicer than using a towel that can catch on things and dump the whole thing. I love it! Thank you, again! Lunch was fantastic, as always!!

And I really love your card design using these great colors! You always nail your DT challenges!! Have a great week! Hugs, Darnell
