PTI - MIM #72 and ColourQ Challenge #143

This weeks challenge for Papertrey Inks is Step it up Embellishments...you have to go to their blog and check out Dawn's cards, just so fabulous, all three of them.  I love the idea of making my own embellishments, it's a great way to utilize all of the supplies that I have.  This is my second card for this week's ColourQ challenge, I know I have said this before, but I love it when I can use one card for more than one challenge...I have to admit these colors are really growing on me.  Thanks for taking a peek!

ColourQ Challenge #143

Another wonderful grouping of colors selected by the amazing design team at ColourQ, ones I would have never put together on a card but I have to say I think it works.  I pulled out a couple of my favorite PTI stamp sets, Tea For Two and Tea For Two Additions. The collection of tea cups are just so beautiful and fun to use and they go so well with the new patterned paper from PTI as well.  Thanks for taking a peek!

The 12 Kits of Christmas - June 2012

It's time for a few more Christmas cards and this month's 12 Kits of Christmas hostess is Amy from Stamp-n-Paradise... This month's kit is another awesome one (but then so far they all have been), I have to say it was so much fun using stamped images and dies that I have not used before. It was really a wonderful treat...it's like taking a stamp set and matching dies out for a test drive and then returning them to the dealership, which in this case is Amy. The stamped images and dies are from Lil' Inker Designs, be sure to check out their website and blog, both are so fabulous and what an incredible group of talented ladies.
When my kit first arrived I opened it up and spread all of the ingredients on my desk, went to work  (teaching summer school and the children drain all of my creativity) and hoped to come home to "self assembled" cards otherwise known as "The Joyce", but I am sad to say that did not happen. I was not about to give up so did it a second day and this time with more luck (Joyce told me that you needed to speak kindly to the supplies, and it worked) all of my cards just seemed to fall into place, very nice and orderly. Be sure to check out all of the other ladies from our little group and see what wonderful things they created and leave some kind words behind (a list and link to each of their blogs are towards the end of my post). So here they are and thanks for taking a
peek!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #103

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge

This has to be one of the most interesting sketch challenges I have seen in a while.  I loved the idea of using different words or anything else that will fit below or along side what you have stamped, just too clever. I recently purchased Wanda's Pantry from WMS, I love Halloween and this set is just so much fun once you read all of the wonderful little treats...can you even imagine going to a Halloween party and getting Fresh Plucked Eyeballs or Fermented All-Breed Innards...just too much fun.  So when I saw this weeks sketch I knew just what I wanted to do...here is my card and thanks for taking a peek!

Papertrey Ink June Blog Hop

Blog-hop-logo
I love making cards each month for the PTI blog hop, Nichole always has amazing photo's that we are to use for the inspiration in making our cards and this month was no exception...the colors and all of the details on these pillows are just so fabulous.  I tried pleating my ribbon with no luck just ribbon that needed to be ironed...maybe someone will be able to offer a class on a quick and easy way to get good results with ribbon pleating or maybe I just needed a bit more patience.  I was gone yesterday to an all day rock concert (The Vans Warped Tour) outside just next store to AT&T park, it was hot, crowded and way too much fun but I could just not get my brain to kick into gear today. So instead of pleating ribbon I decided that I would go with the center of one of the pillows and add a couple of felt roses.  So here is my card for today...while putting it together I decided to make it work for me and followed the sketch for this weeks Retro Sketch challenge #17... thanks for taking a peek!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #102

This weeks sketch is so fabulous (but I really think every weeks sketch is wonderful), what I like so much about this sketch is the half circle piece, just so many possiblbities.  My mouse order arrived the other day and I could not wait to pull out Paris Nouveau, I have wanted this set since it was released and now I have my very own to play with.  Going to Paris is always on my bucket list, some day I hope to go but playing with my new stamp set will just have to be the next best thing.  When I looked at the stamp set I knew just what I wanted to do and went right to a pad of paper that Renee was so kind to send me, it's called Queen Bee by Pink Paislee and it screams Paris to me and I really think goes so well with this new stamp set.  Thanks for taking a peek!

Make It Monday and Dynamic Duos Challenges

I have to say that I just love it when I can make one card for more than one challenge. This card is for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday #71 - Bordered Sentiments and Dynamic Duos #17 - Melon Mambo & Black with Ribbon.  I decided against the ribbon on this card, really no where to put it without making the card look odd.  My daughter and I love to go to rock concerts...so I made this card with her in mind with the exception of the pink, this is NOT her color.  I wanted it to work for both of these challenges and used it any way.  It was lots of fun to make and both of these stamps sets are among my favorite sets to use.  Thanks for taking a peek.

Waltzingmouse Blog Party - June 2012

Blog-Party-Logo 70%25
Happy Father's Day and Happy Sunday! This month's Blog Party challenge theme is to use an inspiration photo...wow, it is just so beautiful too.  The colors are so bold and striking and work so well in making my card.  I pulled both the rectangles and the branch from the photo to use as inspiration for my card and I have to say that I am very please with the end results.  I have this wonderful orchard tree frame die from Memory Box and I just cut off the trunk and outside edge (thanks Joyce!) and ran it through my xyron, next I cut out a couple of adorable birds using the PTI dies from Bitty bird additions.  Actually this card was one that pretty much made itself once I pulled out the supplies I wanted to use.  It is quite fun to watch this in action, hmmmmm, maybe I should set up a secret camera in my craft room??? Just a thought.  Here is my card and thanks for taking a peek!

WaltzingMouse Christmas Card Challenge June -2012

Just for fun

I can't believe I have been making cards for this challenge for six month and I have quite the collection of wonderful Waltzingmouse Christmas cards ready for the holidays.  This month's challenge was to add stitching to your card, and it could be any type of stitching, hand, machine or faux, and since I was using WMS Sewing Box Christmas set, why add the real deal when my holly leaves have beautiful stamped stitching on them.  I pulled out my drawer of paper scrapes and found this striped paper and thought green and purple would make a fun holly day card...add a bit of bling and I was done.  Thanks for taking a peek!

June 2012 - Four of a Kind Challenge

Can you believe it has already been a month since out last challenge??? Time sure does fly faster the older you get. Each month one of the four of us, Cathy - Empty Nest Crafter, Joyce - Cards-by-the-Sea, Renee - It's A Patchwork Life and myself plays hostess and kit maker and mails out the same to kit to everyone and then we use those supplies to make cards or projects.  It is always amazing how different they are all for each other with using the same supplies.  There have been a few times that cards made that have been almost identical too.  This month I am the hostess and I decided to pull out some stamps that have not seen too much love.  PTI's Fruit Fusion are 6 sets of different fruit (apples, cherries, watermelon, pears, grapes and strawberries) and patterned paper to coordinate.  I only have three of the fruits that were released, apples, grapes and cherries, so those are the stamps I used for my kits.

Supply Kit

I found these cute little Mary Engelbreit tins in the dollar bins at Target and when I saw spring and planting on them I thought this would be the perfect way to send off the dies, buttons and ribbon.  So here are my cards, I made six and still have plenty of supplies left over for another challenge later in the year.  Be sure to check out all of the creations on all four blogs, links are listed below the photos.  Thanks for taking a peek!

Hi Sweetie!
Thanks a bunch!
Miss you a bunch!
You're the apple of my eye!
Love you to the core!

One Card and Three Challenges

Don't your love it when you can use one card for a few fabulous challenges.  The first two are fairly new and the last one has been around for a bit...I just love to play along on all of them, too much fun.  Retro Sketches is so amazing and reminds me of some of my favorite TV shows, like I Love Lucy and the Dick Van Dyke show, then Dynamic Duos is fabulous and they put two great colors together that I usually would not pair up.  It is nice to think a bit outside the box and CAS-ual Fridays is for cards that have clean and simple look. For Dynamic Duos this week one of the colors is gray and at first I was a bit bummed, I don't use gray paper very often and just knew I did not have any.  I remembered that I did have my stash of Bazzil that I would use for scrapbooking and there it was a nice big piece of gray, enough to use to make my card.  My inspiration for this card not only comes for the two challenge blogs I have already listed, but also from Tracey McNeely.  When I saw her card today I fell in love with the big polka dots embossing for the background, it just screamed Retro to me. Here is my card and thanks for taking a peek!

One more card ready to post to this week's PTI MIM challenge and keeping with the holiday theme, this card is for Christmas. You can never have too many of those cards floating around.  I am half way through the sketches for this week's challenge, not sure if I will get any more time to make the other three.  So if not today I will use these sketches for other cards, they are fabulous to keep on hand when you are at a lose for ideas.  Here is my card and thanks for taking a peek!

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #69 - Take 2

It's such a beautiful day today, hope everyone else is having fabulous weather.  Here is my second take on PTI's MIM sketch challenge this week. I seem to be doing holiday cards...this one is for Valentine's Day. There are six different sketches to choose from and I'm going to try and make a card for each one, or at least that is my plan...I will have to see how my day goes though.  You still have time to create your own card for this week's challenge, so give it a try.  Here is my Valentine's Day card, thanks for taking a peek!

All 6 sketches are great but to start I had to select one to play with...after looking at my toes which are painted orange and black for the SF Giants, I decided to make a Halloween card, see the connection??? ColourQ Challenge #140

Another week of fabulous colors for the ColourQ challenge...this combination is so summery to me, with the red, green and blue so perfect for this time of year.  I also love the beach towel that is used for this week's inspiration piece from Target, just may have to make a Target run for one.  I am not really a beach person but like the pool (no sand there).  I used PTI's On The Farm stamps and dies for my card and was inspired by a card made by Betsy, one of the PTI design team members and she got her inspiration from a set of coffee mugs, just too cute.  I have to say that this set is one of my all time favorites and love these little critters.  Thanks for taking a peek.
