The 12 Kits of Holidays - April Edition

This month's kit is brought to you by Sharron from On Papillon Wings and what a fabulous kit it is! We are back to Christmas this month and Sharron's kit was so fun and festive to play with. I fell in love with the paper, whimsical houses, snowmen, lots of polka dots and stripes too! So many wonderful goodies to drool over.  I made 4 cards and one notepad and still have plenty of ingredients to play with at a later date after I see what the rest of the group has made. Here are my creations for this months posting...

Happy Friday!

Edited: Thanks for Geri for the heads up that my watercolor card will fit in the current Moxie Fab challenge, Wonder Watercolor World.   Thank you so much Geri!
Just popping in for a quick post at the end of a fun day...met my daughter for lunch at our favorite taquaria, The Tortilla Factory in Newark, it is an amazing little market/restaurant.  My first card is one more using the beautiful flowers that Joyce from Cards-by-the-Sea sent me from The Cutting Garden stamp set from PTI, in fact all of my cards tonight are made using the fabulous supplies she sent.  I will also be entering these in this week's challenge at Simon Says Stamps Anything Goes

My next 2 cards are made from heat embossed images and then water colored. These tulips are simply amazing, so beautiful.  What a fun technique to try out too. The pink tulips are using paint brush dipped in water and then on the ink pad, the red one is from using a reinker with water and a paint brush. I love the look of the water coloring and is really was very easy to do. A fun way to color an image without having all those pens that I really don't need, right? Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by to peek at my cards....have a wonderful weekend!

RetroSketches #60

Thanks to a very sweet friend of mine I have a beautiful Mother's Day card to send to my mother-in-law this year. Joyce from Cards-by-the-Sea sent me some beautiful stamped flowers from the cutting garden by PTI, they turned out just fabulous and I could not wait to use them to make a card. My card is for this week's RetroSketch challenge and for Simon Says Stamp, Anything Goes.  I am not really much of a purple person but after receiving a stunning birthday card from Joyce using these very flowers, I had to have more and like the doll Joyce is she sent some my way.

Papertrey Ink April 2013 Blog Hop and ColourQ #186

Blog-hop-logo
The 25th of the month means it is time for Papertrey Ink's Blog Hop and this month's theme is anything "tilted", I have some friends that fit that description too and they both know who they are! Just kidding...this seems to be one of the trends right now and my card was so much fun to make and I am so happy with how it turned out! I used Comfort Food from PTI for my card and used the spoons as the tilted portion. I love the VersaMark/color ink and heat emboss technique and love the color of my ice cream carton, looks like strawberry to me.
To make my card work for PTI's blog hop and ColourQ Challenge 186 I used the colors for this weeks ColourQ challenge, they are so bright and cheerful, so perfect for springtime. Thank you so much for stopping by to peek at my card...have a wonderful day!

Waltzingmouse Stamps Flower Show

Waltzingmouse is having a flower show! It started last Friday on the 19th...Claire had an amazing group of extremely talented ladies make cards using any of the WM flower sets, and wow...these cards are just beautiful.  The challenge is to find a card from one of their blogs that you like and CASE it, not too hard, right?  Thank goodness my sweet friend Joyce from Cards-by-the-Sea got me hooked on flowers or I would not have had any to play with...I have to admit I resisted flowers for a long time and now I am having more fun playing with them.
I went through their blogs a few times before I decided on which card to make. I chose one that Meredith from A Delightful Waste of Time made and made just a few very minor changes based on the supplies I had on hand.  I even learned a new technique while making my card and that is always a nice bonus to have. I loved how sweet and soft the colors of Meredith's card are and tried to get close to that same look.

Happy Saturday! 3 Cards, 3 Challenges....

I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend so far! Today we were all up at 6am and out the door before 7:30 and in San Francisco by 8am! So much to do once we get to Haight Street, waiting in line for 2 1/2 hours. We left Ashleigh in line and headed across the street to Whole Foods for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat.  Today was Record Store Day and also 4/20, San Francisco was swarming with people, so many people, thousands of people. Some for record store day, but most there to go into Golden Gate Park to celebrate 4/20, I can't remember when I have seen so many people in one place other than at a rock concert, you could get a contact high just walking down the street! Once home I had some crafty time and made 3 cards to post.

While waiting to get our coffee, my husband thought that 420 on the cupcake was the address of Whole Foods, everyone in line had a good laugh!
Inside Amoeba Records, well over 1000 people inside once the doors opened at 10:30am

Back to my cards...I made 3 cards for 3 challenges, Simon Says Stamp, Dynamic Duo's and Lawnscaping from lawn fawn. My first card is for Simon Says Stamp - Travel and/or Cityscape, you still have plenty of time to play along too!  I purchased this large stamp after taking Clean & Simple Card Making 2, just fell in love with it and finally pulled it out to use.  It is hard to see in the photo but the red color is heat embossed, it really gives the card a fabulous look!

Second card is for this week's Lawnscaping Challenge and my first time playing along.  I have 2 of Lawn Fawn's little stamp sets so it was easy to figure out what to make. I have their Bee Mine stamp set and these little bee's are just too cute! I used their Pink Lemonade 6x6 patterned paper and limeade twine. The inspiration for this week's lawnscaping challenge is what inspires you...I was inspired by my toes, I know is sounds silly but they are lime green, my favorite color!

My third and last card is for this weeks Dynamic Duo challenge...the colors for this week are basic gray and black. I don't know what pops into your head when you see these 2 colors together but for me it was a graduation card. I was inspired by a card made by Deanna, you can see her card here. I just loved the look of the diagonal stripes and did the same on my card. Sorry for such a long post but it was a very busy day! Thank you so much for taking time to stop by and peek at my cards....hope the rest of your weekend is fabulous!

Two Cards...Two Challenges - ColourQ #185 and The Alley Ways #26

Happy Friday...today I was able to spend most of my day being crafty and so far I have 3 cards made and will be posting 2 tonight, the third one is for Waltzingmouse, they have a Flower Show challenge on Tuesday.  There is still plenty of time to play along, you can find all of the information here.  My first card is for this week's challenge for ColourQ and what a lovely selection of colors to use for inspiration for my card. I even pulled out some stamps that have never seen ink too, so fun to play with some new stamps that are not really new anymore. Who does not love a fresh box of crayons??? The smell alone sucks me in, so that is what I used to make my card, a color crayon stamp.

My second card is for this week's challenge at The Alley Ways Stamps, Be Inspired.  The set I used is Ooh La La, I won it some time back and have only used it once before, so it was fun to pull it out again to play with. I also tried out my new bottle of Glossy Accents, this stuff is amazing! I love the way it looks on my bottles of nail polish.  Thank you so much for stopping by to take a peek at my cards...have a wonderful weekend!

Waltzingmouse Blog Party - April 2013

Blog-Party-Logo 70%25
Well, it's the 17th of the month again and that means it is time for the Waltzingmouse blog party! This month's theme is Spring Flowers but I do not have any stamps from WM that are flowers so my sweet friend Joyce from Cards-by-the-Sea was kind enough to stamp some off and drop them in the mail to me. She recently won this set from WM, Camellia and it is a beautiful set, the flowers are so easy to fussy cut too. I cut out 3 of the flowers Joyce sent and layered them in the Lil Inkers Polaroid frame.  I have never used this color of card stock, Lavender Moon before, it really is a very pretty color so I was happy that Joyce make the color selection for me. I paired the flowers with a piece of patterned paper that another sweet friend sent me, Renee from It's A Patchwork Life, it is so nice to have crafty friends who share!  Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and peek at my card...have a wonderful day!

Four of a Kind - April 2013

Welcome back to our Four of a Kind challenge...we have a few changes for what used to be our monthly challenge. The first one is that we have a new member, Marybeth from Marybeth's Time for Paper, I am sure most of you know her work. Marybeth is an amazing talented card maker so please give her a warm welcome and make her feel at home here. The next change is that Renee from It's a Patchwork Life will no longer be part of your little group, she has so many other crafty obligations that she needed to step down, she will be missed. The last change for our group is that instead of the posting cards monthly we have gone to quarterly, so our next post after this one will be August.

This month I am the hostess and I had so much fun putting this kit together...I planned early to make sure I would be able to find everything I needed. I love the stamps from Paper Smooches and their Flap Happy set was the inspiration for my kit. I wanted to select colors that I rarely or never use and then I cam across Family Ties 6x6 patterned paper from Pebbles and everything else just seem to fall into place. I made 2 trips to Britex in San Francisco for the ribbon too, that is always a fun trip and one of the things I look forward to most when I am the hostess, this is my favorite place to shop for ribbon!

I was able to get 6 cards made and one little project...thank you so much for taking time to stop by to peek at my cards! Be sure to stop by the other blogs to see what their twist was on the supplies. The links are listed at the end of my post.

This last item is my project...I had a bunch of scraps laying on my craft desk and they just all seemed to fit and it reminded me of a notepad, so I cut a butterfly and added the stamped sentiment, Just a Note and it was finished, love when this happens!
