ColourQ Challenge #139

Good Morning and happy Thursday...hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far.  The card I am posting today makes me want to hop on a plane for Hawaii...When I saw the colors that needed to be used for this week's challenge I immediately thought of sand and ocean and then the flip flops popped into my head. It's amazing how we think of ideas based just on a grouping of colors.  I used the In the Meadow die from PTI and tilted it to get the illusion of sand on a beach...then made what I think is an adorable pair of flip flops but the card still needed something, but wasn't sure what so I left it sitting on my desk for a few days, then it hit me it reminds me of Hawaii so what else could I do but add a lei...Thanks for taking a peek!

12 Kits of Hanukkah

So here we are again and I am sure you were thinking more Christmas cards, right? But this month the host of our 12 Kits challenge is Joyce and she celebrates Hanukkah, not Christmas, so instead of sending out 11 kits with all of the same supplies for Christmas, we all received an incredible kit with lots of fun new images and colors to make cards and a little treat holder. We even got a new logo for this month... Some of the symbols I was familiar with and others not so much, my biggest fear was that I was going to use them in the wrong manner and offend and that was not what I wanted to do, so I played around with the supplies and was so happy when I remembered that Joyce had sent me the kit with the "self assembling" cards in it, so happy it was me she sent it to.  I was able to make 4 cards and one treat holder but my treat holder is kind of plain so I am still not sure if I will post it or not....

Here are my four cards...thanks Joyce for a fabulous kit and getting us to think outside the box on this one. Be sure to check out all of the other wonderful creations using the links below the photos of the cards.

Papertrey's MIM #68 - Pocket Cards

When I saw what type of card/project was on tap for today's PTI - Make It Monday, I knew right away what I wanted to do...even though I am not hosting a Stamp-a-Faire event I really wanted to make a card as if I were.  My sister who is a digital genius was sweet enough to take the PTI logo for the event and turn it into two different sizes so that I can make favors for the event I am attending.  I used the Front & Center die which is perfect for making pocket cards and then paired with Fall Prints and Patterns paper, it goes so well with the Stamp-a-Faire logo.
Thanks for taking a peek!

I did not have any stamps for making an invitation so I found in my stash of stamps a set from Waltzingmouse called Join Us that had a couple of stamps that seemed to do the trick.

Waltzingmouse - Sketch Challenge #99

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge
Last card post for the day (I think) and this one is for this week's sketch challenge from Waltzingmouse.  I always look forward to seeing what their design team comes up and I am always amazed.  I made a card using their Join Us stamp set, it has so many stamps to use for parties and so many other events.  I wanted to make a thank you card for some friends of our who went to dinner with my husband and I to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary, they are the sweetest couple and really wanted to make a special card to thank them.  Thanks for taking a peek!

Dynamic Duos Challenge #4

One more card for the day...this one is for this week's Dynamic Duos challenge. I am so in love with their challenges because they use colors that I would never either put together or just at all. It is a great way to think out side the box and use supplies that I would not normally use.  I am not really a blue person but this week's challenge is to use two different shades of blue so it took me some time to think up what I wanted to do.  I started going through my bin of dies and saw the butterflies, I don't use these too much either so  why not use them with the blues, use two things I don't use too often and I have to say I am very pleased with my card. Thanks for taking a peek!

Retro Sketches - Challenge #13

Hope everyone is having a safe holiday weekend. It is nice to have some extra time off and really nothing major planned to do...I baked a batch of oatmeal cookies and plan to bake some cupcakes later tonight.  Made a trip to Joann's Fabrics, (they are having a great sale) picked up some Disney fabric to make Ashleigh some summer pj's and fabric to make an apron for a Christmas gift.  Yesterday I made 7 cards and did some fine tuning on them today so most of them are ready to post, 5 need to wait for a future post for our 12 Kits of Christmas blog post.  The card I made for the Retro Sketches challenge I use PTI's new set, On The Farm, just too dang cute and so many possibilities! It's the 25th of the month again so that means it is time for PTI's blog hop. When I saw the inspiration photo I was so excited...green is my favorite color and paired with black is so stunning and fun to play with. I would also love to have the dishes shown in the inspiration photo too, I just love the look of the mixed patterns, checks, gingham and polka dots.  They also go so well together in making a card...be sure to take a peek at all of the fabulous cards on the Papertrey blog tomorrow and play along if you have the time.  Thanks for taking a peek!

This month theme for the Waltzingmouse challenge is to use felt or fabric on your card and I was stumped and could not come up with an idea to save my life...I had forgotten that I had a nice stash of felt from PTI in a drawer that I don't use often enough.  One of my favorite colors from PTI is Pure Poppy and decided to cut out some flowers from it and coordinate with Beautiful Blooms patterned paper from PTI. I am really looking forward to seeing what everyone else has made using felt and fabric, it will be nice to have more ideas to CASE.  Thanks for taking a peek!

Dynamic Duos #3

I love this weeks color combination, black and daffodil, they are so stunning together and really make beautiful cards...be sure to check out all of the cards that have been submitted to the Dynamic Duos blog for this weeks challenge, they are so inspiring!  I wanted to make a card for a sweet friend of mine who was afraid she was going to lose her job due to layoffs, so I went through my stamps and came across Botanical Silhouettes, it reminded me of being a kid and picking this type of "weed" and blowing on them to make wishes, I can't remember for the life of me what we called them but every time we saw one a wish was made.  I thought the Believe In Yourself sentiment from Script Sentiments was so perfect for what I was trying to say.  Thanks for taking a peek!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #98

This weeks sketch from Waltzingmouse is just too much fun and as soon as I saw it I knew just what I wanted to do with it.  Who doesn't love the French Country stamp set from WMS??? So many stamps and so many possibilities! I was trying to go with the rustic farm scene and added a little fence from PTI and a little fussy cut rooster. I inked the edges for the rustic white paper with Canyon Clay ink and just a bit of jute to tie off the buttons.  Lynn is so creative and I just love her sketches and this is no exception.  Thanks for taking a peek!

Like I said I had the day off so I made a few graduation cards.  Ashleigh has one friend graduating from high school and another from college so I needed to get a few cards made and ready for the parties.  I was inspired by a card I saw on the PTI forum made by Leigh Penner, her work is just incredible.

May 2012 Four of a Kind Challenge

Welcome back to this month's Four of a Kind Challenge...This month's host is Cathy Weber and what a fabulous kit, so many bright and vivid colors along with so many fun embellishments.  Each month one of  us (there are 4 of us, hence the name) puts the kits together, mails them out and then the magic happens, we all make incredible cards.  It is so much fun to see how different and/or similar each others are and then get ideas to use up the left over supplies. I really look forward to getting my kit each month, almost like a mini celebration when I open up the package and the surprise to see what is inside.  Here is a photo of the wonderful kit that Cathy put together for each of us....

I completed 4 cards from Cathy's kit and still have some left overs for a few more cards and look forward to seeing what the rest of the ladies create and then CASE. Cathy, thank you again for the fabulous kits!

Be sure to check to out every one's blog and be sure to leave some comments too.

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #52 Feathered Friends

I have not played along with a CAS-ual Friday challenge for some time so since I had some Mother's Day crafting time I thought I would try and get several challenge cards completed today.  I bought Birds of a Feather from another PTI forum friend and have not pulled it out to play with yet so I figured today was the day.  My favorite bird in this set is the crow, it just screams Halloween to me.  So I had the bird but then I needed a branch and I knew I did not have any stamps or dies to create one so then I remembered I had the Cricut cartridge, Winter Frolic with some tree type things and it worked out just perfect. Thanks for taking a peek!

May Waltzingmouse Christmas Card Challenge

First let me wish all of the mom's a Happy Mother's Day, hoping that your day was just fabulous. It's time again for another Christmas card challenge with Waltzingmouse and this months challenge involves using some chip board of some kind, store bought or homemade.  I don't work much with chip board so I did struggle a bit trying to decide what to do.  I did not have anything store bought that was anywhere close to Christmas so I bit the bullet and made my own.  I punched out a small buckle from chip board and card stock to hold the twill ribbon at the bottom of the card.  Then I started to go through all of my WMS that had any kind of Christmas sayings on them and thought of making a "subway art" type of image.  There were still a few holes that needed something so I decided to add a few pearls. Hope you like it and thanks for taking a peek!

Just for fun

Papertrey Ink MIM #65 Background Patterns from Patterned Paper Scraps

One more card for the day...this one was fun to make. The challenge was to make a background out of your patterned paper scraps and that is sort of what I did, or my take on the challenge.  I have a large drawer that I put all of my patterned paper scraps in so that made it easy to just reach in and find some colors that would go nicely together.  I love the color combination of Hawaiian Shores, Raspberry Fizz and Simply Chartreuse, they are just so bright and festive and make the perfect thank you card! Thanks for taking a peek!

Eye Chart Birthday

I love the stamps from Technique Tuesday and have been wanting to make a card using this stamp for some time but could not come up with an idea.  So I pulled out some supplies this morning and started playing with them and before I knew it I had my card! It isn't really what Joyce from Cards-by-the-Sea would call a "self assembling" card because I did have a bit of inspiration from two new challenge blogs, one for the colors and the other for the sketch. So be sure to check out both of these blogs, they are so fabulous and an amazing group of talented ladies organize these wonderful challenges. Thanks for taking a peek!
